Fermanagh Names

Following the Plantation of Ulster in the early seventeenth century, many British names appeared in Fermanagh for the first time. These include Cole, Hamilton, Elliott, Wilson and Irvine, and are still widely represented. The main names, though, are those of native Irish origin and include Maguire, McManus, Dolan, Cassidy, McGovern, Reilly, McElroy, McGrath and Flanagan.
