Commissioned Family History Reports from South Mayo only are available on request from the South Mayo Family Research Centre.

Your beautifully bound Family History Report will incorporate facsimiles of relevant genealogical documents in addition to maps which often show the locations(s) where your ancestors once resided.

It will transport you back in time so that you will learn not only who your ancestors were but also about their lifestyles,  the society they were a part of,  what they did for a living, what their native townland was like, where the family’s surname originated from, and any interesting detail that will make your Mayo ancestry more familiar to you.

Our  centres have access to over two million records and have been engaged in the compilation and indexing of these records for over twenty-five years.

An example of the source materials that will be consulted includes:

Roman Catholic Church Records (pre-1901)
Church of Ireland Records (pre-1900)
Civil records of births, marriages & deaths (1864-1900)
Presbyterian Church Records (pre-1900)
Census search forms for Pension Applications
Griffith Valuation Records (1855,1856)
1901 Census of Population
Ordinance Survey Maps showing Townlands
Tithe Applotment Records

Additional sources are also used such as indexes of burials in Calvary cemetery, New York; Immigration lists; Tombstone Inscriptions and sundry lists of people from accounts of evictions, testimonials, petitions, advertisements to name but a few.

Couple this vast wealth of information with a team of professional and experienced researchers and you can be assured of a full and in depth report on your Mayo family’s history. It is due to the tireless dedication of the staff at each of the two Mayo centres that we can offer you today this unique and precious treasure for you and your family.
