Achill's Eva O'Flaherty : Forgotten Island Heroine
The book, 'Achill's Eva O'Flaherty:Forgotten Island Heroine' (by Mary J.
Murphy) will be launched in Achill on Mon 30 July during the opening
ceremony of Scoil Acla, Irealnd's oldest summer school - co-founded by Eva
O'Flaherty in 1910.
A television documentary is to be made about the extraordinary life and
times of Eva O'Flaherty, and filming for the programme will begin on the
night of the book launch on the island.
Mary J. Murphy, a mother of three young children, and a journalist and
broadcaster, is originally from Menlough in east Galway. She now lives near
Caherlistrane, Galway, homeplace of Eva O'Flaherty, who was born there in a
splendid Georgian manor, Lisdonagh House, in 1874. For further details Mary
