BOOK FAIR,TALKS AND LIVING HISTORY AT THE BATTLE OF THE BOYNE
*BANK HOLIDAY MONDAY 4TH JUNE 2012*
* 11.00 AM TO 5.00 PM*
To mark the 600^th Unification of Drogheda, book - sellers from all over
Ireland will converge at the Battle of the Boyne Visitor Centre at
Oldbridge on Bank Holiday Monday 4^th June 2012.
Book worms and hunters of ephemera will be enticed to visit and see what
gems are being sold. Among the items of interest will be rare and
unusual books, first editions and signed copies. If you have a
particular interest in local history and archaeology you will no doubt
find a tome to suit your tastes.
Local Drogheda author Ted Greene, will be selling and signing copies of
his book, 'Drogheda – its place in Irish history'. Ted will give a short
talk about his book at 3.00 pm.
Noted Trim historian Noel French, will be selling and signing copies of
his recently published book ' Meath War Dead'. He will also give a short
talk about Hugh de Lacy and his connection with Drogheda at 4.00pm.
Both Talks are free and no booking is necessary.
The fair begins at 11.00 am and admission is free.
Living History Demonstrations of black powder musket firing and cavalry
manoeuvres will take place on the Front Lawn every hour from 11.00 am to
5.00 pm
The Book Fair will be located in the Walled Garden beside the Tea Room
Pavilion at the Battle of the Boyne Visitor Centre, making it the ideal
location to sip some coffee and delve into the magical world of the
printed word.
